Ecological Research Our company is a proponent of applied ecological research designed to address a specific management concern as well as a strong supporter of academic research undertaken to advance our understanding of ecosystem composition, structure and functioning. We conduct research on behalf of our clients to meet their management or project needs and we dedicate a portion of our annual profits to our independent research program. Our research interests are wide, but we place a particular emphasis on: the composition, structure, and function of forested natural communities, late successional and old growth forests, alpine ecology, amphibian breeding biology, freshwater mussel ecology, meta-population analysis, and ungulate over-wintering habitat use. Upcoming projects will focus on the phylogeography of northern plant and animal species in regions within the southern extent of the last glacial expanse. Particular emphasis will be placed on the evolutionary relationships between populations in disjunct watersheds and on the expansion of species from glacial refugia. We are always interested in collaborative research, so please feel free to contact us if your research interests are similar to ours. Please contact us, as well, if your organization has any ecological research needs that can best be addressed by an independent research program. |
