Ecological Restoration

Ecological restoration is often necessary after an environmental clean-up activity, such as removing contaminated soil from a wetland or after infrastructure has been decommissioned on a site.  Our ecological restoration activities have been undertaken on a variety of sites, including wetland restoration following highway relocation, wetland mitigation associated with environmental permitting, site restoration following nuclear power plant decommissioning, and stabilization of eroding stream banks.  We also work with forest managers to design harvest plans for restoring natural stand composition following past management practices or pest infestation.

Our services include topographic survey of current conditions, inventory of existing plant and animal communities, and development of site restoration plans.  We also assist with obtaining any necessary permits for the restoration activity, agency consultation, construction cost estimating, helping to select earthworks and planting contractors, erosion control planning, monitoring construction activities, and post-construction monitoring and remediation, where necessary.

In addition to site-specific ecological restoration, we assist clients who are interested in wetland mitigation banking or banking of other ecological resource values.
